Predictive power of self-efficacies of toddlers mothers for parenting task in childrens psychosocial development

Özet

The aim of this study is to determine whether parenting self-efficacies of mothers of toddlers significantly predict their children's psycho-social developments. The sample of the study is composed of 245 mothers of toddlers in different cities all over Turkey. In the study, the Self Efficacy for Parenting Tasks Index-Toddler Scale which was used to measure parenting tasks self-efficacy of mothers of toddlers. In the assessment of children's psychosocial development, psychosocial development sub-dimension of Brief Infant-Toddler Social and Emotional Assessment Scale was used. In the analysis of the study data, Pearson moments multiplication correlation coefficient and simple linear regression analysis were used. The results of the study revealed that there was a positive significant relation between mothers' parenting self-efficacies and children's psychosocial developments and that mothers' parenting self-efficacy scores significantly predict children's psychosocial development scores.
