Özet
Balkan Savaşlarından Milli Mücadele sonuna kadar devam eden 1912-1922 tarihleri arasındaki on yıllık dönem Türk milletinin Batılı emperyalist güçlere karşı yaptığı savaşlarda pek çok alanda büyük kayıpları olmuştur. Bu kayıplardan en önemlisi de insan gücünün, özellikle de yetişmiş insan gücünün her geçen gün azalması idi. Vatan savunmasında şehit olanların il il tesbit edilmesi, mahalli tarihin bilinmesi ve faydası açısından oldukça önemli bir husustur. Biz bu çalışmamızda Balkan Savaşları, I. Dünya Savaşı ve İstiklal Savaşı sonuna kadar olan dönem içerisinde Nevşehir'in ilçesi olan Gülşehir (Arabsun)'in sözkonusu dönemdeki idari yapılanması içinde yer alan yerleşim birimlerinde vatan savunmasına katılıp da şehit olanların tesbiti konu edilmiştir. Bu konunun araştırılmasında en önemli kaynak ise Gülşehir Nüfus ve Vatandaşlık İşleri Müdürlüğü'nde bulunan ?Vefâyâta Mahsus Vukuat Defteri?dir. Bu amaçla defterde bulunan ?Sebebi Vefatı? bölümünde şehit olarak belirtilen kişilere ait bilgileri tesbit ederek liste haline getirdik. Bu listemizi MSB'nın yayınlamış olduğu ?Şehitlerimiz? isimli kitaptaki ?Gülşehir'in Şehitleri? ile karşılaştırarak toplam 243 şehit tesbit etmiş bulunmaktayız. Bunlardan 170'i Gülşehir Vefâyâta Mahsus Vukuat Defteri'nden, geri kalan 73 şehit ise ?Şehitlerimiz? kitabından tesbit edilmiştir. Bu listelerden yola çıkarak sosyal tarih açısından önemli sayılabilecek bilgilere de ulaştık. Mesela şehit isimleri, medeni durumları, yerleşim birimleri, anne ve baba isimleri, lakabları gibi konularda da elde ettiğimiz bilgileri grafik ve tablo haline getirdik. Böylece Türk milletinin emperyalist güçlere karşı vermiş olduğu mücadelenin mahalli desteğinin bilinmesi, mahalli tarihin millet üzerindeki faydaları hususunda önemli bir yer tutacaktır.
In the decade between the years 1912-1922, from the Balkan Wars to the end of the National Liberation Struggle, the Turkish people suffered great losses in many fields through their struggles against western imperialist powers. The most critical of these losses was the decrease of manpower, especially experienced manpower. In this respect, it is quite crucial to establish a province-based record of the martyrs of the national struggle in order to attain an awareness of local history. In this study, we have taken as our subject matter the establishment of the martyrs in the then localities of Gulsehir (Arabsun), a town of Nevsehir, during the period of the Balkan Wars, World War I, and the National Liberation Struggle. The most important and beneficial resource for this study has been the Register of the Deceased found at Gulsehir Public and Citizen Affairs Registration Office. For this purpose, we have enlisted all the information belonging to the people indicated as martyr in the ?Reason of Death? column of the said register. Through a comparative study with the list of the `Martyrs of Gulsehir? in the book ?Our Martyrs? (Sehitlerimiz) published by the Ministry of Defense, we have eventually come to conclude a total of 243 martyrs. 170 out of these have been established from the Register of the Deceased in Gulsehir, whereas the remaining 73 have been from the book ?Our Martyrs?. We have also attained information which could be considered crucial in respect of social history through these lists. For example, we have prepared graphics, charts, and tables of the names, marital status, places of residence, names of the parents, and nicknames of the martyrs based on the information we have gathered. It is our sincere belief that the awareness of the local support and assistance to the struggle of the Turkish people against imperialist powers will have considerable effect on the value of local history over the nation.
