AN EVALUATION OF THE DECISIONS OF THE PRESIDENCY OF RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS' CONSULTATION BOARD IN DEMOCRAT PARTY PERIOD

In Turkey, following the one party era of CHP, the institutional role of the Presidency of Religious Affairs in Democrat Party (DP) period became important in terms of "change, society and religion". With the political transformation of secular republic, the incidents experienced in 1960s are, in this sense, of great importance from the societal perspective. The subject specifically provides a base for discussing the decisions made by DP-driven Presidency of Religious Affairs' Consultation Board and the important information regarding the content of the changes experienced from today's viewpoint. In this article, some social and technological issues concerning the board in the given period have been evaluated. Especially in the decisions of the Consultation Board in DP period, it was seen that an effort was made to give contemporary answers regarding social issues asrequired by that period's conditions in accordance with secular structure.
