Özet
Batılılasma süreci ile birlikte, Avrupa kökenli birtakım siyasî ve felsefî fikirler Türkiye'de yayılmaya ve tartısılmaya baslamıstır. Bu fikirlerden biri de materyalizmdir. Materyalizm, maddeyi yegane hakikat olarak gören ve varlıgın, ruh, bilinç gibi kavramlara basvurmaksızın sırf maddî süreçlerle izah edilebilecegini iddia eden felsefî doktrin ve dünya görüslerinin genel adıdır. Bu felsefî düsünce, ilk Çag'da Demokritos, Epikuros ve Lukretius gibi düsünürlerin ortaya koydugu Atomculuk ile baslamıs ve 17. yüzyıl sonrasında doga bilimlerinde saglanan gelismelerden güç alarak özellikle 18. yüzyıldan sonra Avrupa'da etkili bir fikir akımı haline gelmistir. Türkiye'ye ise materyalizm, Besir Fuad, Baha Tevfik, Abdullah Cevdet gibi düsünürlerin, Haeckel ve Büchner gibi batılı materyalist filozofların eserlerinden yaptıkları çevirilerle girmeye baslamıstır. Bu çevirilerle yayılmaya baslayan materyalist fikirler özellikle Ahmet Mithat, Filibeli Ahmed Hilmi, ismail Fenni Ertugrul gibi islamcı aydınlar tarafından tepkiyle karsılanmıs ve bunlara karsı çesitli reddiyeler kaleme alınmıstır. Bu çalısmada, materyalizme yöneltilen elestirilere örnek olması bakımından ismail Fenni Ertugrul'un eser ve görüsleri ele aldık ve bunların felsefî ve bilimsel açıdan degerini ortaya koymaya çalıstık. ismail Fenni Ertugrul, materyalizmi Büchner'in ?Madde ve Kuvvet? adlı eserinde ortaya koydugu fikirleri esas alarak elestirmistir. Bu elestirilerin, özellikle madde ve kuvvetin tanımı ve özellikleri, tabiatın olusumu ve yapısı, Tanrı'nın varlıgı ve tabiat ve insanla olan iliskisi, ruhun varlıgı ve mahiyeti ile insanın özellikleri konularında yogunlastıgı tespit edilmistir. Bundan dolayı çalısmamız, bu baslıklar esas alınarak hazırlanmıstır.
With the process of Westernization, some political and philosophical ideas, originating from Europe began to spread and be discussed in Turkey. One of that ideas is materialism. Materialism is a general name of the doctrines and worldviews that regard the matter as an only reality and maintain that existence is explainable solely in material terms, with no accounting of spirit or consciousness. This philosophical thought arose in Antiquity as Atomism that was presented by some thinkers, such as Democritus, Epicuros and Lucretius. After 18. th cencury, materialism, empowered by some important successes and improvements in the natural sciences in and after 17. th cencury, became a prevalent philosophy in Europe. Materialism began to take place in intellectual life of Turkey with some translations by Besir Fuad, Baha Tevfik and Abdullah Cevdet from works of Western materialist philosophers, like Buchner and Haeckel. That materialistic views were faced with some reactions by Islamist writers, such as Ahmet Mithat, Filibeli Ahmed Hilmi and Ismail Fenni Ertugrul, who compose some works to reject metarialism. In this study, we have dealt with Ismail Fenni Ertugrul?s works and views as an example for that critiques of materialism and tried to show their value from the viewpoint of philosophy and science. When criticizing materialism, Ismail Fenni Ertugrul referred Buchner?s views set forth in his most famous book ?Force and Matter?.He focused his criticises on the definition and attributes of the matter and the force, the creation and form of the nature, existence of God and His relationship with human and the universe, existence and the nature of the soul and characteristics of human being. Therefore, we have prepared this work on these headlines.
