Necip Mahfuz'un Zukaku'l-Midakk ve Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in Çalıkuşu Romanları

Özet
Bu çalışmada, II. Dünya Savaşı‟nın yaşandığı zamanı esas alan Necip
Mahfuz'un Zukaku'l-Midakk ve I. Dünya Savaşı‟nın vuku bulduğu dönemde geçen
Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in Çalıkuşu adlı romanları okuyucuya aktarılmaktadır.
Çalışmada Necip Mahfuz ve Reşat Nuri Güntekin'in yazmış oldukları bu romanlar
üzerinden Modern Dönem‟in getirisi olan toplum ve aile yapısındaki değişimler ele
alınmaktadır. Aynı zamanda her iki romanda da kaleme alınan karakterler üzerinden
tahlil yapılmaktadır. Her iki eserde de farklı huy ve meşrebe sahip olsalar da kadın
figürünün öne çıktığı görülmektedir. Çalıkuşu romanında Reşat Nuri‟nin hayatının
sembolize edildiği taşrada görev yapan Feride karakteri üzerinden I. Dünya
Savaşı‟nın vuku bulduğu dönemin şartları ve toplumsal yapı ele alınmaktadır.
Zukaku‟l-Midakk romanında ise II. Dünya Savaşı‟nın yıkıcı etkilerinin tüm dünyayı
sardığı dönemde Necip Mahfuz‟un çocukluk yıllarını geçirdiği Kahire‟nin yoksul bir
arka sokağında yaşayan Hamide‟nin hayatı okuyucuya aktarılmaktadır. Yazar,

gözler önüne sermektedir
Bu çalışmada, her iki romanın zaman, mekân, dil ve üslup, ele alınan konular
ve tema hususunda karşılaştırılması yapılmaktadır. Zaman bağlamında her iki eserde
de savaş dönemlerinin esas alındığı bilinmektedir. Mekân hususunda ise her iki
yazarın da çocukluk yıllarını geçirdikleri yerleri ele aldıkları görülmektedir. Her iki
eserde de savaşın etkisiyle toplumsal bozulmaların yaşandığı dönemde ortaya çıkan
ahlâkî yıkım, eski-yeni tartışması, batıl inançlar, kuşak çatışması, genç kızları
kandıran yaşlı ve zengin adamlar, rüşvet kabul eden makam sahibi insanlar ele
alınmaktadır. Dil ve üslubu bakımından akıcı ve yalın bir anlatıma sahip olan bu
romanların büyük okuyucu ve eleştirmen kitlelerinin takdirini kazandığını söylemek
yerinde olacaktır.
In this study, Naguib Mahfouz's Zuqaq al-Midaq, based on the time of the Second World War and in Resat Nuri Guntekin's novel called Calıkusu, which takes place during the period of the First World War are conveyed to the reader. In study, the changes in society and family structure, which are the outcomes of the Modern Period, are discussed through these novels written by Naguib Mahfouz and Resat Nuri Güntekin. In addition, analysis is made on the characters in both novels. It is seen that the female figure stands out in both works although they have different temperaments and dispositions. In the novel Calıkusu, the conditions and social structure of the period when the First World War took place are discussed through the character of Feride, who works in the province where Resat Nuri's life is symbolized. In the novel Zuqaq al-Midaq, the life of Hamide, who lives in a poor back street of Cairo, where Naguib Mahfouz spent his childhood years when the devastating effects of the Second World War were experienced all over the world, is viii conveyed to the reader. The author reveals the social structure of the period through Hamide's relations with the residents of the street. In this study, both novels are compared in terms of time, place, language and style, the topics discussed and the theme. In the context of time, it is known that both works are based on war periods. As for the place, it is seen both authors deal with the places where they spent their childhood years. In both works, the moral destruction, the old-new debate, superstitions, generational conflict, old and rich men who deceived young girls, people with authority who accepted bribes that occurred during the period of social degradation due to the effects of war are discussed. It would be appropriate to say that these novels, which have a fluent and simple narrative in terms of language and style, have won the appreciation of large audiences of readers and critics.
