Abstract
Dünya üzerindeki ekosistemin ve insan yaşamının vazgeçilmez bir parçası olan
hayvanlar, sinemada da çeşitli biçimlerde temsil edilmektedir. İnsan yaşamında
daima yer almış olan hayvan, kimi zaman insanın en yakın dostu olmuş, sosyal bir
varlık olan insanın duygusal ve sosyal açıdan bazı ihtiyaçlarını karşılamıştır. İnsan hayvan dostluğu, pratikte insan yaşamında çok alışılmış, masumane ve daima
faydaları bakımından ele alınmış bir olgu olarak karşımızda durmaktadır. Hayvanlar
dostluk bağlamında nasıl temsil edilmektedir sorusuna yanıt arayan bu tezin amacı,
insan-hayvan dostluğu bağlamında sinemada hayvanın temsilini ve insan-hayvan
dostluğunun gündelik yaşam pratiğindeki yerini karşılaştırmalı ve eleştirel bir bakış
açısıyla ele almaktır. Bu tezin evrenini, hayvan temsili içeren, insan-hayvan
dostluğunu ele alan, yetişkinlere hitap eden kurmaca filmler, örneklemini ise Alfa
Kurt (2018) ve Lassie (1994) filmleri oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada, gündelik
yaşamda da karşılığı bulunan insan-hayvan dostluğu olgusu, kavramsal açıdan
incelenmiş ve örneklem alınan filmler betimsel film analizi yöntemi ile analiz
edilmiştir. Bu tez, insan-hayvan dostluğu bağlamında hayvanın sinemada ne şekilde
temsil edildiğine odaklanarak yalnızca anlatısının merkezine hayvanları yerleştiren
filmler ile sınırlandırılmıştır. Bu tez daha yeni yeni araştırmalara konu olan hayvan
çalışmalarını sinemayla birleştirerek literatüre katkı sağlamaktadır.
Animals, which are an indispensable part of the ecosystem and human life on earth, are represented in various forms in the cinema, too. The animal, which has always taken place in human life, has sometimes been man's closest friend and has met some of the emotional and social needs of man, who is a social being. Human-animal friendship stands before us as a phenomenon that is very common in human life in practice, innocently and always handled in terms of its benefits. The aim of this thesis, which seeks to answer the question of how animals are represented in the context of friendship, is to discuss the representation of animals in cinema in the context of human-animal friendship and the place of human-animal friendship in daily life practice from a comparative and critical perspective. The population of this thesis consists of fictional films with animal representation, dealing with human animal friendship and appealing to adults, and Alpha Wolf (2018) and Lassie (1994) films constitute the sample. In this study, the phenomenon of human-animal friendship, which is also found in daily life, has been analyzed conceptually and the sampled films has been analyzed with the descriptive film analysis method. This thesis is limited to films that place animals at the center of their narrative, focusing on how animals are represented in the cinema in the context of human-animal friendship. This thesis contributes to the literature by combining animal studies, which are the subject of more recent research, with cinema.
