Abstract
Bu çalışmada, 1980 sonrası Mersin ilinde yaşanan yoğun sosyal değişme süreci ve bunun siyasal katılma ve seçmen tercihlerine yansıması incelenmektedir. Özellikle 1990 yılından sonra Mersin'e yapılan göçün şehrin sosyal değişimini ve siyasal katılımını ne yönde etkilediği araştırılmıştır. Mersin özellikle 1990'lı yıllardan sonra aldığı göçle ciddi bir sosyal değişim süreci geçirmiştir. Bu da hem siyasal hem de günlük toplumsal hayata yansımıştır.Sonuçta Mersin'e yapılan göç, şehrin sosyal yapısını değiştirmekte dolayısıyla halkın siyasi tercih ve tutumlarını da değiştirmesine neden olmuş, son on yılda yapılan seçimlerde de partiler arası rekabeti ve politik dengeleri etkilemiştir.
This study examines intensive social exchange and its implication for political participation and electoral preferences in Mersin province 1980s. Here we have especially tried to analyze how immigration affected and conditioned the city?s social exchange and political participation trends. Since after the 1990s immigration has creted new social problems and thus it reflected in both political and daily social life. Consequently, the new immigrant groups in Mersin changed the city?s social structure, political preferences and political party competiıon in gneral and local elections in the last decade.
