Her iki grupta bulunan buzağıların beslenmesinde araştrmanın yürütüldüğü işletmenin besleme programı uyglanmıştır.
In this study, the effects of orange juice intake on water consumption and performance in calves were examined. The research was carried out for 70 days in 2 groups, one as a control and the other as experimental group, with 5 animals in each. While orange juice was added to the drinking water of the animals in the experimental group, no addition was made to the control group. The similar feeding program was applied to the calves in both groups. Calves were weighed on days 0, 14, 28, 42, 56 and 70, live weight changes were determined, fecal scores were recorded and feed and water consumption during these periods was calculated. At the end of the research, the average live weight of the experimental group was found to be significantly (P<0.05) higher than the control group thtoughout the trial period. Daily average live weight gain and feed conversion rates were significantly (P<0.05) higher in the experimental group than in the control group on days 0-14, 43-56, 57-70 and 0-72, while between the groups on days 15-28 and 29-42. the difference was found to be insignificant (P>0.05). When the feed and water consumptions of the groups were compared, it was seen that the animals in the experimental group consumed more feed and water than those in the control group in all measurements made during the experiment and the difference was statistically significant (P <0.05). No statistically significant difference was found between the fecal scores of the trial and control groups at the beginning of the trial and on the following days (days 14, 28, 42, 56 and 70). As a result, it can be said that orange juice as aromatic drinking water positively affects the growth performance of calves and does not have a negative effect on fecal quality.
