Özet
Türk belgesel sinemasının öne çıkan isimlerinden Kerime Senyücel, hikaye anlatımı ve sinematografik yaklaşımıyla tanınmaktadır. Sinemasal alandaki katkılarına rağmen Senyücel'in kullandığı teknikler ve anlatı stratejileri üzerine akademik analiz eksikliği bulunmaktadır. Bu çalışma, Bordwell ve Thompson'ın film eleştirisi metodolojisini Senyücel'in belgesellerinden bir örnekleme uygulayarak sözü edilen boşluğu doldurmayı amaçlamakta; yönetmenin, filmlerinde, kompozisyon, ışıklandırma, çerçeveleme ve kurgu ritimleri gibi sinematografik teknikleri nasıl kullandığına odaklanmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın alt amaçları şunlardır: (1) Senyücel'in fotoğrafik kapsam, çekim kompozisyonu ve süresi gibi temel sinematografik unsurları nasıl kullandığını tespit ve analiz etmek; (2) kompozisyon, alan derinliği, ışıklandırma ve kamera konumlandırmasına ilişkin yönetmen kararlarının belgesellerinin tematik ve duygusal derinliğini nasıl etkilediğini incelemek; (3) bu tekniklerin uyumlu anlatı yapıları oluşturmak için nasıl etkileşime girdiğini araştırmak ve (4) Senyücel'in yenilikçi yaklaşımlarını sergileyerek Türk belgesel sinemasına ilişkin akademik söyleme katkıda bulunmak. Analiz, Senyücel'in tematik çeşitliliği ve yönetmenlik tarzını temsil etmesi açısından amaçlı örnekleme yöntemiyle seçilmiş sekiz belgeseli içermektedir. Metodolojik olarak çalışma Bordwell ve Thompson'ın tez formülasyonu, film segmentasyonu ve sinematografik tekniklerin detaylı analizini içeren çerçevesini takip etmektedir. Veri toplama, her bir belgeselin birden fazla kez izlenmesini, kare kare analizini ve yönetmen notları ve röportajlar gibi tamamlayıcı materyallerin gözden geçirilmesini içerir. Film eleştirisindeki potansiyel öznellik ve incelenen filmlerin örneklemiyle ilgili sınırlılıklara rağmen araştırma, Türk belgesel film tarihine sunacağı katkı bakımından önemli görülmektedir.
Kerime Senyücel, one of the prominent figures of Turkish documentary cinema, is known for her storytelling and cinematographic approach. Despite her contributions to the cinematic field, there is a lack of academic analyses on Senyücel's techniques and narrative strategies. This study aims to fill this gap by applying Bordwell and Thompson's film criticism methodology to a sample of Senyücel's documentaries, focusing on how the director uses cinematographic techniques such as composition, lighting, framing and editing rhythms in his films. The sub-objectives of this study are as follows: (1) to identify and analyse how Senyücel uses basic cinematographic elements such as photographic scope, shot composition and duration; (2) to examine how directorial decisions regarding composition, depth of field, lighting and camera positioning affect the thematic and emotional depth of his documentaries; (3) to explore how these techniques interact to create coherent narrative structures; and (4) to contribute to the academic discourse on Turkish documentary cinema by showcasing Senyücel's innovative approaches. The analysis includes eight of Senyücel's documentaries, selected to represent his thematic diversity and directorial style. Methodologically, the study follows Bordwell and Thompson's framework of thesis formulation, film segmentation and detailed analysis of cinematographic techniques. Data collection involved multiple viewings of each documentary, frame- by-frame analysis and review of supplementary material such as director's notes and interviews. Despite the potential subjectivity in film criticism and the limitations of the sample of films analysed, the research is considered important in terms of its contribution to the history of Turkish documentary film.
