This study aimed to examine the effect of intolerance of uncertainty on perceived stress, psychological resilience, psychological vulnerability, and perception of motherhood in high-risk and non-high-risk pregnant women. This is a case-control correlational study and data were collected between August and December 2022. Study data were collected from a total of 1100 pregnant women, 550 high-risk pregnant women and 550 nonhigh-risk pregnant women in the 2nd and 3rd trimesters. Intolerance of Uncertainty Scale (IUS), Perceived Stress Scale, Brief Psychological Resilience Scale (BPRS), Psychological Vulnerability Scale (PVS), and Pregnant Women's Self-Perception Scale (PWSPS) were used to collect the data. Student-t test was used for comparisons between two groups of normally distributed quantitative variables. Pearson chi-square test and Fisher-FreemanHalton test were used to compare qualitative data. Statistical significance was accepted as p<0.05. Ethical approval and institutional permission were obtained before the study. The mean age of high-risk pregnant women was 26.59±5.03 years, the mean age of non-high-risk pregnant women was 26.60±5.75 years, and the mean gestational age of all women was 33.01±3.6 weeks. It was found that 60.5% of high-risk pregnant women had risky preterm labor, 14.0% had hypertensive diseases of pregnancy, 12.4% had premature rupture of membranes, 8.0% had hemorrhage, and 5.1% had gestational diabetes mellitus. The mean score of intolerance of uncertainty scale was 65.35±19.47, the mean score of perceived stress scale was 18.82±2.75, the mean score of psychological resilience scale was 16.99±3.90, the mean score of psychological vulnerability scale was 16.29±4.87, and the mean score of self-perception scale of pregnant women was 25.60±2.93. In the non-high-risk pregnant women, the mean score of intolerance of uncertainty scale was 65.19±21.7, the mean score of perceived stress scale was 16.65±5.24, the mean score of psychological resilience scale was 20.19±4.09, the mean score of psychological vulnerability scale was 15.71±5.36 and the mean score of self-perception scale of pregnant women was 26.53±2.64. In high-risk and non-high-risk pregnant women, there was a positive correlation of intolerance of uncertainty levels with perceived stress and psychological vulnerability, and a negative correlation with psychological resilience. In high-risk and non-high-risk pregnant women, no significant relationship was found between the level of intolerance of uncertainty and the level of self-perception of pregnant women. In conclusion, this study found that intolerance of uncertainty had an increasing effect on perceived stress and psychological vulnerability and a decreasing effect on psychological resilience in high-risk and nonhigh-risk pregnant women. In addition, it was found that intolerance of uncertainty in high-risk and non-highrisk pregnant women did not affect the level of self-perception of pregnant women.
