A frequent problem which pediatrician are up against is growth retardation and height brevity. Situation such this must be well known by the pediatrician and should be differentiated from pathological reasons like GH deficiency. This differentiation certainly could be made by GH stimulation tests. For this reason, the GH stimulation tests should be reliable and the side effects should be minimal as possible. Up to date, a GH stimulation test ideal with it all features could not be found. The diagnosis of GH deficiency is made by 2 GH stimulation test with inadequate responses. The insulin stimulation test used routinely is save enough, but has a important side effect which is symptomatic hypoglycemia. That is why, a test which would replace the insulin stimulation test with equale or more activity and if it could be used routinely, was discussed.en_US
