Özet
In this study, design of a physical underground cable model provided by a cascade connection of lumped-parameter equivalent pi (pi) circuits for laboratory scale power system applications is presented. The validity of the model was confirmed by a power transmission system using an infinite bus bar constituted of a static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) and the physical cable model. STATCOM exhibits the structure of a three-phase, twelve-pulse voltage source converter that operates on the principle of microcontroller based reactive power control. In such type of a power system, the effects of powering an unloaded and loaded transmission line, as well as load shedding on the cable line were investigated through various experiments and simulation studies. The simulation models for the power and control systems were built by employing the PSCAD/EMTDC program's C-programming interface and the graphics based models in its model library. The experimental results are compared with the results obtained from the PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program.
