This study investigated 60-72 month-old children's auditory reasoning and processing skills in terms of parental variables. The study group consisted of 352 children attending nursery classes attached to primary schools and independent kindergartens in 2013-2014 educational years in Bingöl city centre and their parents. The children were selected through random cluster sampling. 168 of children were females and 184 of them were males. The research was conducted in relational screening model. Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test –TARPS was used to measure children's auditory reasoning and processing skills. "Parental Acceptance-Rejection/Control Questionnaire", "Parental Attitude Scale" and "Child-Parent Relationship Scale" were used to obtain data with regard to parental variables. Analysis of One-way Variance, Tukey test and regression analysis were conducted to analyze the data obtained. Findings of the research were summarized as following; • When the results related to levels of mother acceptance-rejection are considered, it can be seen that there is not any statistically significant difference between the levels of mother acceptance-rejection in terms of their effects on children's average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test. • Even though there is a linear relationship between levels of mother-control and children's average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test, it was found that there was not any statistically significant difference between the levels of mother control in terms of their effects on children's average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test. • The results related to variable of mother-child relationship demonstrate that children, whose mothers have low and medium level of positive relationship, their average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test are significantly lower than children, whose mothers have high level of positive relationship, their average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test. • It was found that there was not any statistically significant effect of mother attitudes towards children on their average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test. • It was found that there was a statistically significant relationship between mother-fathers' ages, educational levels, occupations and children's average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test but only variables of mothers' educational levels and fathers' occupations were a significant predictor of children's average scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test. In the light of the findings obtained it is concluded that mother-child relationship, mothers' educational levels and fathers' occupations as parental variables have a statistically significant effect on children's scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test although there is not any statistically significant effect of mothers' levels of acceptance/rejection and control, mother attitudes, mothers and fathers' ages, mothers' occupations, and fathers' educational levels as parental variables on their scores of Selçuk Auditory Reasoning and Processing Skills Test.
