dc.description.abstractElectrical resistivity survey was performed to determine underground water passageways at an open pit coal mine in west Anatolia in Turkey. The mine has 7 benches with 10 meter bench height. Safety inspection for pit slopes which have dip directions towards Southwest is the main concern described here. Northeast site of the coal pit which has mainly marl, volcanic and clay layers. The main problem in this pit is the danger of slope failure after heavy rains. Electrical resistivity surveys therefore were performed at the Northeast border of the pit. Wenner alpha and Pole-pole methods were used to obtain earth resistivity data through multi-electrode surveying. After evaluating the field measurements, it was determined that there are more than 4 water passageways into the coal mine from Northeast direction.en_US
