Özet
What type of students desire to work in tourism and hospitality-related jobs or not is still unclear. In this regard, the purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of the personality traits of hospitality undergraduate senior students on their willingness to work in the tourism and hospitality industry in Turkey. The sample included the senior students (N=757) who enrolled in Hospitality Management, Tourism and Hotel Management, and Food and Beverage Management programs at the Schools of Tourism and Hospitality Management (N= 16) and Tourism Faculties (N=1) in Turkey. Descriptive statistics (frequencies and percents) and statistically analyses (correlation and regression) were used to analyze the data gathered via surveys. Results indicated that openness to experience was the most important predictor of students' willingness to work in the tourism and hospitality industry. Other predictors of students' willingness to work are neuroticism, extraversion, and agreeableness. A discussion of the findings, implications, and recommendations for future research were all presented. © Sila Science.
