Özet

The concept Haymatlos is a loanword which was transmitted from German to Turkish as a result of diplomatic relationships between Germany and Turkey after the Second World War. The first time it was transmitted to Turkish, this concept was used solely in a political context with its first meanings: stateless and homeless. Its meaning was extended in time. Along with its political usage, it gained different philosophical, sociological, psychological and literary meanings. Yet more, it started to be used in daily life. It also discarded its negative implications in contemporary world and gained encompassing, universal, indiscriminate and liberal meanings. In this study, the adventure of the concept haymatlos, which was used from the 1950s in Turkish, will be discussed. The examples of this concept of German origin were examined in different fields such as media, literature and onomasiology; and so its place and usage in Turkish language are aimed to be investigated.
