Edebiyatın önemli düzyazı türlerinden biri olan roman, bir kişinin yaşadıklarını yerzaman- insan üçgeninde geniş bir yelpazede inceler. Romanın konuları, tekniği, figürleri günümüze kadar farklılaşıp gelişse de sabit olan hep insandır. Romanda her çeşit insan tipi işlenebilir. Önemli bir nokta ise; roman günümüzde sadece sayfalarda kalmamaktadır. Yazı sinema vasıtasıyla siluet olarak perdeye yansımaktadır. Bu da evrensel bir kavram olan edebiyatın daha geniş kitlelere yansımasını doğurmaktadır. Toplumlarda cinayet, tecavüz, gasp, terör, hırsızlık, fuhuş? gibi pek çok olaya yazarlarda kayıtsız kalmamıştır. Uzunca bir dönem ticari bir meta ya da eğlendirici edebiyat olarak nitelenen polisiye gerek kurgu gerekse edebi boyutu ile roman türleri içerisinde yerini almıştır. Tarihi, psikolojik, aşk, macera gibi konuların yanında polisiye edebi yönden değerli romanlarda bu alanda bir yer edinmiştir. Türk ve Alman edebiyatında roman, polisiye roman, yazarların hayatı, eserleri ayrıca seçilen eserlerin dili, anlatımı, konusu, kahramanları, sonuçları, eleştiri ve beğeniler yani eserlerin benzer ve farklı yönleri mukayeseli olarak incelenmiştir.

The novel which is one of the types of prose examines the true life of a person in place-time-person triangle in a wide scope. Even though the topics, method and figures of the novels change, the standing point is always human. Everykind of human can be the subject in Novels. An improtant point is here that the novel does not always remain in pages today. It reflects to the silver screen as a silhouette via the text and cinema. This let the literature,which is a universal concept, reach to the wide crowds. Regarding so many cases such as murder, sexual assult, sezure by violence, terrorism, burglary, prostitution, the writers can not ignore these topics. The detective story which has been defined as either commercial concept or amusing literature for a long period in the past and it has taken place in the novel types with its literary dimension. Not only historical, psychological, love and adventure topics but also detective stories have them places in this field.
