| dc.description.abstract | Liberal demokratik teori, bireyin önceliğini vurgulasa da “halkın, halk için, halk tarafından yönetimi” tanımında da sembolleştiği gibi sivil toplumun katılımını talep etmektedir. Bu birlikte hareket etme durumu “kamusal alanda ortak aklın kullanımıyla” mümkün kılınacaktır. Kamusal alan özünde, bir topluma ait gerçeklerin ve düşüncelerin dolaştığı ve ortak bir bilgi birikiminin toplu siyasal eyleme temel oluşturduğu o topluma ait iletişim alanlarını ve kurumlarını içerir. Kamusal alanının dönüşümü sürecinde on sekizinci yüzyıl itibariyle kitle iletişim araçları toplumun ana enformasyon kaynağı ve paylaştığı deneyimin odağına dönüşmüştür. Modern “haber” kavramı, vatandaşları en önemli bilgilerle donatmanın bir aracı olarak gelişmiştir. Ancak medyanın ekonomi-politiği nedeniyle kitle iletişim araçlarının kamusal alan yaratmak yerine, siyasi ve ekonomik güç odaklarının ideolojik aracı haline geldiği iddia edilmektedir. Gelişen iletişim teknolojileri yoluyla dolayımlanan enformasyon daha kolay ve hızlı ulaşılabilir ve paylaşılabilir olsa da kamusal alanın bu dönüşümü, demokratikleşme yönünde bir ivme sağlamamaktadır. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Liberal democratic theory demands the participation of civil society, as symbolized in the definition of "government of the people, for the people, by the people" even if it emphasizes the priority of the individual. This state of acting together will be made possible by “the use of common sense in public space”. In essence, the public space includes the communication fields and institutions of that society, where the facts and ideas of a society circulate and a common knowledge base forms the basis for collective political action. In the process of transformation of the public space, as of the eighteenth century, the mass media has become the main source of information and the focus of the shared experience of the society. The modern concept of “news” has developed as a means of equipping citizens with the most important information. However, due to the political economy of the media, it is claimed that the mass media have become the ideological tool of political and economic power centers instead of creating a public space. Though the information mediated through the developing communication technologies can be accessed and shared more easily and quickly, this transformation of the public space does not provide an impetus for democratization. | en_US |
