Abstract
The effect of caffeine supplementation on sportive performance is still being discussed and cannot find a clear answer. Caffeine-assisted studies performed on basketball players are very few. Considering the basketball branch, this study was designed to determine the effects of Caffeine supplement on anaerobic performance in long-term exercises. 24 athletes from the Men's Regional League team of Soke Basket Sports Club participated as volunteers. The subjects were divided into 3 different groups; caffeine + plyometric training group, 2nd group; pliometric training group, Group 3; control group. The exercises were carried out three days a week in the form of plyometric training, right after the basketball training. Measurements were taken 4 times pre-supplement, 30 days, 60 days and 90 days. The measurement; Height, Weight, 30 Meters Sprint, T-Test Agility, Active Bounce, Squat Bounce and Coordination values are taken. As a result of the study, no significant differences were found between the groups in sprint performance (p>0,05). Significant differences were found between caffeine group and control group in active splash, squat jump and agility performance measurements (p<0,05), while there were significant differences in time change (p<0,05). While there was no significant difference between the groups in the coordination measurements (p>0,05), it was determined that there were significant differences in time change (p<0,05). As a result; It was observed that caffeine supplementation applied to adult basketball players before long-term exercise had a positive effect on anaerobic performance. It is understood from the findings that this positive effect is not only due to the effect of the trainings, but also the effect of caffeine support on the increase of performance.
