Özet
Avrupa ve Asya'nın kavşağında yer alan bir ülke olan Azerbaycan, nefes kesen
doğal manzaralarla birleştirilmiş zengin bir tarihi ve kültürel mirasa sahiptir.
Azerbaycan'ın başkenti Bakü, ziyaretçiler için çok sayıda ilgi çekici yer ve deneyim
sunan, önde gelen bir turizm destinasyonu olarak hizmet vermektedir. Bu noktadan
hareketle oluşturulan bu tez çalışmasında; Azerbaycan'ın ve başkenti Bakü’nün kültürel
mirası, doğal manzaraları ve tarihi alanlarına yönelik turizm potansiyelinin ortaya
konması amaçlanmıştır. Bu unsurların incelenmesi ve bu sayede çalışma alanının bir
turizm destinasyonu olarak çekiciliğinin artırılmasına katkı sunmak araştırmanın alt
amacı olarak ortaya konmuştur. Araştırmada nitel araştırma yöntemlerinden doküman
incelemesi ve saha ziyaretlerinden faydalanılmıştır. Araştırma kapsamında elde edilen
bulgulardan hareketle, Türk kültürünün neredeyse tüm özelliklerini taşıyan bu
coğrafyanın kültürel tanıtım noktasında birtakım eksikliklerinin bulunduğu anlaşılmıştır.
Bu kapsamda Azerbaycan’a özgü olarak gerçekleştirilen kültürel faaliyetlerin tespit
edilerek, uluslararası platformlarda tanıtımının sağlanması ve geliştirilmesi; turizm
politikalarının sürdürülebilirlik ilkesine bağlı olarak gerçekleştirilmesinin turizm
gelirlerinde bir artışa neden olacağı ve kültürel tanıtım noktasında önemli bir araç olacağı
düşünülmektedir. Sonuç olarak Azerbaycan’ın ve başkenti Bakü’nün kültürel mirası,
doğal alanları ve tarihi geçmişi ile zengin bir turizm potansiyeline sahip olduğu
anlaşılmıştır. Bu çalışma saha ziyaretleri ve ikincil verilerden elde edilen bilgiler
doğrultusunda tasarlanmıştır. İleride gerçekleştirilecek olan çalışmalarda daha detaylı
saha gözlemlerinin yanı sıra anket veya görüşme gibi veri toplama tekniklerinin
kullanılması ve konu ile ilgili tüm turizm paydaşların görüş ve önerilerini kapsayacak
bulguların ortaya konması önemli olacaktır.
A country located at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Azerbaijan has a rich historical and cultural heritage combined with breathtaking natural landscapes. Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan, serves as a leading tourism destination, offering numerous attractions and experiences for visitors. From this point of view, this thesis aims to reveal the tourism potential of Azerbaijan and its capital Baku for its cultural heritage, natural landscapes and historical sites. The sub-objective of the research is to examine these elements and thus contribute to increasing the attractiveness of the study area as a tourism destination. In the research, document analysis and field visits were utilized as qualitative research methods. Based on the findings obtained within the scope of the research, it was understood that this geography, which has almost all the characteristics of Turkish culture, has some deficiencies in terms of cultural promotion. In this context, it is thought that identifying the cultural activities specific to Azerbaijan, promoting and developing them on international platforms, and realizing tourism policies based on the principle of sustainability will lead to an increase in tourism revenues and will be an important tool for cultural promotion. As a result, it is understood that Azerbaijan and its capital Baku have a rich tourism potential with its cultural heritage, natural areas and historical past. This study was designed in line with the information obtained from field visits and secondary data. In future studies, it will be important to use more detailed field observations as well as data collection techniques such as questionnaires or interviews and to present findings that will include the opinions and suggestions of all tourism stakeholders on the subject.
