Özet
XVI. yüzyıl, Kanuni Sultan Süleyman ve Charles-Quint (Şarlken) gibi Avrupa ve hatta dünya tarihinin iki önemli isminin karşı karşıya geldiği yüzyıl olmuştur. 1520 ye doğru Avrupa'nın siyasi coğrafyası asırlardan beri görülmemiş şekilde değişikliğe maruz kalmıştı. Bunun başlıca müsebbibi ise 1516 yılında İspanya, 1519`da da V. Karl adıyla Alman imparatoru olan Charles-Quint (Şarlken) idi. Buna karşılık Osmanlı tahtına da Avrupalıların sonraları ?Le Magnifique? yani Muhteşem diyecekleri Kanuni Sultan Süleyman geçmişti. Yaptığımız bu çalışmanın birinci bölümünde; yukarıda bahsettiğimiz Kanuni Sultan Süleyman- Charles-Quint (Şarlken) mücadelesi ve bu mücadelenin safhalarını anlatmaya çalıştık. Bu bölümde anlatılan olaylar özet şeklinde olup daha ziyade birinci el kaynakların yerine ikinci el kaynaklardan bir derleme yaptık. İkinci bölümde; çalışmamızın ana teması olan Sigetvar Seferi'nin sebepleri, hazırlıkları ve kalenin fethi konularını anlatmaya çalıştık. Bu bölümde kullanılan kaynakların büyük çoğunluğunu arşiv belgeleri ile o dönemde yazılan ve çoğu hala yazma halinde kütüphanelerde bulunan eserlerden faydalandık. Bazı kaynaklara ulaşamamamız nedeniyle, bu bölümde anlatılan seferin iaşesi ve mühimmatı gibi konularda kesin bilgiler vermek yerine kaynaklarda geçen bilgileri aynen tekrar ettik. Üçüncü bölümde ise; Kanuni Sultan Süleyman'ın ölümü, ölümünün gizli tutulması ve cenazenin Belgrad'a götürülmesi gibi konuları işledik. Bu konularda bilgi veren Selânikû ve Peçevi gibi birinci el kaynak olan eserlerden faydalandık ve konunun daha iyi anlaşılması için gerekli yerlerde bu eserlerin günümüz harflerine çevirerek kullandık. Ayrıca bu konu ile ilgili ayrıntılı ve farklı bilgiler veren Zeynep Tarım Ertuğ'un eserinden fazlaca yararlandık.
The sixteenth century was the time when the two of the most important figures of the history of Europe, or even of the world, Sultan Suleyman the Law-Maker and Charles-Quint confronted. By 1520, the political geography of the continent had been exposed to changes to such an extent that had not been witnessed for centuries. The major reason for this was Charles-Quint, who first became the emperor of Spain in 1516 and then of Germany under the name Karl V in 1519. At the same time, Sultan Suleyman the Law-Maker, whom the European were later to call ?Le Magnifique? meaning ?the Magnificent?, came to the throne of the Ottoman Empire. The first chapter of this study focuses on the combat between Sultan Suleyman the Law Maker and Charles-Quint and on the stages of that combat. The events presented in this chapter are of a summary nature and more like a compilation of secondary resources, rather than first-hand ones. The second chapter deals with the reasons and arrangements for the Sigetvar expedition and the conquest of the castle. Most of the resources which we benefited from for this chapter are archive documentation and other resources which were written at the time, most of which are manuscripts kept in libraries. Instead of giving certain information about the subsistence and munitions for the expedition, we had to quote the related parts in the resources as we were unable to obtain some of the documentation needed for this. With regard to the third chapter, such topics as the death of Sultan Suleyman the Law Maker, the confidentiality of his death, and the transfer of the funeral to Belgrade are studied. We benefited from the first hand resources `Selaniki? and `Pecevi?, and for a better understanding, we provided a version of the quotations in Latin alphabet when necessary. We also referred greatly to Zeynep Tarim Ertug?s work on the topic, which discusses detailed and different information about the issue.
