Özet
Today Facebook is the most popular social networking site among others; especially young people use Facebook intensively. Facebook supplies so many advantages for young people in terms of political participation and compared with traditional participation ways, Facebook necessitates less cost and time usage. Other social networking sites like Facebook make easier for people who have similar political backgrounds to develop political contacts with each other contrary to before. This study aims to focus on political participation frequency of young people like university students on Facebook during the 2014 Local Elections. For this purpose, 454 young people were selected from three different universities in Konya and data were collected by using survey method. As a result of the study, it was found that participants realized some Facebook activities more frequently like following latest events, liking a political party or candidate, adding or deleting political news to their profiles or discussing a political topic on chat implementation etc. In terms of gender, compared with women, men realized more frequent participation during the latest local election. Beside this, this study found that there is a meaningful relation between political party adherence and political participation frequency.
