Pamukkale Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Öğrencilerinin Restoratif Diş Tedavisi Lisans Eğitimi ve Uzmanlığına İlişkin Görüşlerinin Değerlendirilmesi

Özet
Amaç: Bu çalışmada, Pamukkale Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi’ndeki öğrencilerin Restoratif Diş Tedavisi lisans eğitimine ilişkin düşüncelerinin ve Restoratif Diş Tedavisi uzmanlığına bakış açılarının değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmaktadır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Pamukkale Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi’nde yürütülen çalışmada 4. ve 5. Sınıfta eğitim görmekte olan 144 öğrenciye, Restoratif Diş Tedavisi lisans eğitimi ve uzmanlığı ile ilgili 18 sorudan oluşan bir anket uygulandı. Elde edilen veriler SPSS 22.0 yazılımı aracılığıyla istatistiksel anlamlılık seviyesi p<0.05 olarak belirlenerek Pearson ki-kare testi ile değerlendirildi. Bulgular: Katılımcılar, Restoratif Diş Tedavisi bölümünü üniversitede preklinik eğitim aracılığıyla tanıdıklarını (%42.4), bölümle ilgili ilk deneyimlerinin olumlu olduğunu (%57.6) belirtmişlerdir. Uzmanlık için bölümler arası tercih sıralamasında Restoratif Diş Tedavisi bölümü 4. Sırada (%18.1) yer almış, bölümün en çok tercih edilme nedeni estetik çalışmalar yapılması olmuştur (%65.3). Restoratif Diş Tedavisi bölümünün uzmanlık için tercih edilmeme nedeni ise uzmanlık sonrası gelecek ile ilgili endişedir (%28.5). Sonuçlar: Restoratif Diş Tedavisi bölümü diş hekimliği lisans eğitiminde önemli bir yer tutmasının yanı sıra son dönemde estetik diş hekimliğine olan ilginin artmasıyla uzmanlık yapmak için tercih edilen bölümlerden biri olmuştur. Bu çalışmanın sonuçlarına göre öğrencilerin lisans eğitimleri sırasında Restoratif Diş Tedavisi bölümüyle ilgili ilk kanıları oluşmuş, sonrasında yaşadıkları klinik deneyim, maddi kaygılar, gelecek kaygısı ve mesleki ilgi gibi faktörler uzmanlıkla ilgili düşüncelerini etkilemiştir.
Background: In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the opinions of the students at Pamukkale University Faculty of Dentistry about the undergraduate education of Restorative Dentistry and their perspectives on Restorative Dentistry specialization. Methods: In the study conducted at Pamukkale University Faculty of Dentistry, a questionnaire consisting of 18 questions about Restorative Dentistry undergraduate education and specialization was applied to 144 students studying in the 4th and 5th grades. The obtained data were evaluated with the Pearson chi-square test, with a statistical significance level of p<0.05 using SPSS 22.0 software. Results: The participants stated that they got to know the Restorative Dentistry through preclinical training at the university (42.4%), and that their first experience with the department was positive (57.6%). Restorative Dentistry took the 4th place (18.1%) in the preference order between departments for specialization, and the most preferred reason for the department was aesthetic studies (65.3%). The reason why the Department of Restorative Dentistry was not preferred for specialization was the concern about the future after specialization (28.5%). Conclusions: Restorative Dentistry has an important place in dentistry undergraduate education and has become one of the preferred departments for specialization with the increasing interest in aesthetic dentistry. According to the results of this study, the first opinions of the students about the Restorative Dentistry were formed during their undergraduate education, and factors such as their clinical experience, financial concerns, future concerns and professional interests affected their thoughts about the specialty.
