| dc.description.abstract | Based on the information provided by the Qur'?n and the Sunnah together with the Islamic law doctrine and the practices of the first era of the Islamic state, this article shows that Islam gives the highest recognition and priority to human rights. As a secure and effective way to ensure this recognition, such practice is rooted in obligations. Consequently, Islam stipulates a society model that consists of individuals who know and fulfil the obligations imposed on them. Hence, to talk about the concrete existence of an individual's right is dependent upon others fulfilling their obligations. In other words, the rights of an individual form the obligations of others. As a result, in a society where people fulfil their obligations as a requirement of their beliefs and religious ethics, the demand for rights will automatically decline. In addition to this balancing mechanism, the maintenance of the struggle to reduce violations of human rights which result from the excessive use of the means for self- interest is an obligation imposed on both the unjustly treated and all other people. | en_US |
