Reading and writing are principles that cannot be inherited. Writing is a boring process for many people and especially out of the question for students outside of the school environment. Creative writing, however, is not really meant in that way, because of the incentive with the methods of creative writing, many scientists have succeeded in motivating students creatively and having fun in the classroom. The division of competencies has also been seen in textbooks for a long time, especially writing skills are more often assigned to exercises and tasks. Creative writing has existed in America since the end of the 19th century. It was only later created in Great Britain and Germany. The space has also changed a lot over time. While creative writing has been seen in the university environment, it is now so widespread that it can even be found on the network, on various blogs, and on social media. The aim of this work is to find out the use of creative writing in foreign language textbooks. Particular attention was paid to the methods, brainwriting, freewriting and clusters, whether and how they were divided into tasks. Three textbooks were examined and the results differed. While there is almost no creativity in one textbook, the other textbooks contain tips and suggestions for creative writing.
