Özet
En sık karşılaşılan ortodontik problemlerden birisi maksiller transversalyetersizliktir. Bu problem çocuklarda ve ergenlerde ortopedik uygulamalarve ortodontik tedaviler ile düzeltilebilir. Gelişimini tamamlamış hastalardamaksiller transversal düzensizliğin tedavisi daha zor hale gelmektedir. Buhastalarda cerrahi destekli hızlı üst çene genişletmesi (SARPE) sıklıklauygulanırken son dönemlerde komplikasyon riski daha az olan ve uygulamakolaylığı bulunan mini vida destekli hızlı üst çene genişletme (MARPE)uygulaması dikkat çekmektedir. Bu derlemedeki amacımız gelişiminitamamlamış hastalarda SARPE ve MARPE uygulamalarıyla ilgili genel bir bakışaçısı kazandırmak ve hastalar için en uygun tedavi seçeneğini belirlemede birkılavuz oluşturabilmektir.
One of the most common orthodontic problems is maxillary transversedeficiency. This problem can be corrected with orthopedic applications andorthodontic treatment in child and adolescent patients. It becomes moredifficult to treat maxillary transverse deficiency in patients who showcomplete growth. While surgically assisted rapid palatal expansion (SARPE)is commonly applied in these patients, miniscrew assisted rapid palatalexpansion (MARPE) application has been preferred recently beacuse ofreduced risk of complications and ease of application. The aim of thisreview article is to provide SARPE and MARPE applications in patients whohave completed their growth, succest guidelines to determine the mostappropriate treatment option for patients.
