Özet
Emek yoğun bir endüstri olan turizm sektöründe, yöre halkı ve turistler karşılıklı iletişim içindedir. Sektörde çalışan yöre halkının turistlerle olan sağlıklı iletişimi, turistlerin memnuniyeti ve destinasyonun turistler tarafından daha fazla tercih edilmesi açısından oldukça önemlidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, Pamukkale destinasyonunda turizm sektöründe çalışan yöre halkının genel iletişim becerileri düzeyini tespit etmektir. Çalışma kapsamında Pamukkale destinasyonunda turizm sektöründe çalışan yöre halkına yönelik anket çalışması yapılmış, önermeler, Likert ölçeği ile ölçeklendirilmiştir. Çalışmada yöre halkına yönelik yapılan 437 anket değerlendirmeye alınmış ve anketlerin sonuçlarından elde edilen veriler SPSS 13 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Anketle elde edilen verilerin değerlendirilmesiyle, yöre halkının iletişim becerileri düzeyi ortaya konulmaya çalışılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda yöre halkının genel iletişim becerileri düzeyinin orta düzeyde olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca, yöre halkının genel iletişim becerileri düzeyinin yükseltilmesine dolayısıyla yöre halkı ile turistler arasındaki iletişimin etkinliğinin arttırılmasına ve Pamukkale’nin daha çok tercih edilen bir destinasyon olmasına yönelik öneriler sunulmuştur.
Tourism is a labour intense industry; local people and tourist are in direct communication. In terms of tourist satisfaction and revisit intention, healthy communication of local staff with tourists is very important. The aim of this study is to determine the communication ability level of local people working in tourism sector in Pamukkale destination. A Likert scale survey was done to Pamukkale residents working in tourism sector. 437 surveys were evaluated and data analysed in SPSS 13 statistics programme. Evaluating data, communication ability levels of local people tried to be put forth. As a result of the study, general communication ability level of local people found average. Apart from that suggestions related with increasing communication ability level of residents that will result with healthy communication with tourists and Pamukkale to be more preferred destination were proposed.
