Özet
Yoksulluk ve yoksulluk kültürünün toplumsal görünümleri konusunda yapılmış olan bu çalışma teorik ve uygulamalı olmak üzere, genel olarak iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde yoksulluk kavramının mahiyeti, toplumsal görünümleri, literatürde ele alınış biçimleri ile Türkiye'deki boyutları tartışılmıştır. Bu bağlamda, yoksulluk ile ilgili temel kavramlar ve süreçler aktarılmış, yoksulluk çalışmalarının tarihsel gelişimi ile Türkiye'de yoksulluk ve yoksulun profili analiz edilmiştir. Ayrıca sosyolojide yoksullukla ilgili kuramsal perspektiflerin yanı sıra yoksulluğu bir yaşam tarzı olması boyutu ile ele alan ?yoksulluk kültürü? kuramı değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmanın diğer bölümünde ise genel olarak yoksulluğu, özelde de bir yaşam tarzı olarak yoksulluğu betimlemeye çalışan bir alan araştırmasına yer verilmiştir. Uygulama süreci sonrasında 1080 görüşme cetvelinden elde edilen veriler istatistikî testler kullanılarak yorumlanmıştır. Bu bölümde özellikle resmi kurumlar ve sivil toplum kuruluşlarından yardım alan yoksullara ilişkin önemli bulgular elde edilmiştir.
The present study, which was conducted on poverty and the social aspects of the culture of poverty, is as a whole comprised of two parts, as theoretical and practical. In the first part of the study, the nature of the concept of poverty, its social aspects, the ways it is addressed in the literature and its dimensions in Turkey were discussed. In this context, the basic concepts and processes regarding poverty were presented; the historical development of poverty studies and poverty and the profile of the poor in Turkey were analyzed and the concept of ?culture of poverty? was evaluated through discussing from the point of poverty being a lifestyle and the theoretical perspectives regarding poverty in sociology. In the second part of the study, a field research which aims to describe poverty in general and poverty as a lifestyle in particular was presented. Following the implementation process, the data obtained from 1080 interview scales were interpreted by using statistical tests. In this section, significant findings were obtained regarding the poor who receive support particularly from government agencies and non-governmental organizations.
