The investigation of the microalbuminuria levels in the hypertensive and non-hypertensive individuals

Hipe Hypertension is an important health problem in terms of public health priorities all over the world. Microalbuminuria in spot urine is an early marker of hedef organ damage. Microalbuminuria has been emphasized as a risk factor of atherosclerosis and cardiovascular diseases in many studies. In this study, we aimed to compare the microalbuminuria levels in spot urine in the hypertensive and non-hypertensive individuals aged 20 and over. This survey was conducted on 340 individuals. Blood pressure, total cholesterol, low density lipoprotein, triglyceride, high density lipoprotein, fasting blood glucose and microalbumin in spot urine of the participants were examined. In our study, of all 340 individuals, 103 (30.3%) was found as hypertensive (29.0% in male, 31.2% in female). The mean age of the hypertensive patients was 51.38±10.77 years, the mean age of the non-hypertensive patients was 40.43±13.03 years. The prevalance of hypertension increased with age (p<0.001), and decreased with higher education level (p=0.031). We found prehypertension ratio as 47.6%. Of the hypertansive patients, 20.4% had microalbuminuria while this ratio was 10.5% in non-hypertensive group. The prevalance of microalbuminuria was twice higher in hypertansive patients when compared with normal individuals (p=0.024) [OR= 2.17, %95CI; (1.152-4.093)]. There were not significant correlations between microalbuminuria and fasting blood glucose, lipid levels, cigarette smoking and body mass index (p>0.05). So microalbuminuria should be recognized as early as possible in hypertensive patients and blood pressure must be controlled.ansiyon, çoklu organ hasari{dotless}, mikroalbüminüri.
