In the postgraduate thesis titled “Garipler Tumulus”, tumulus type burial chamber which exists within borders of Kayseri province and Melihgazi town presently and which was found out in 1971 during an excavation work as well as gifts which were found in-situ and belong to the burial chamber have been classified according to their intended use and examined. The aim of our study is to determine contribution of Garipler Tumulus to interment traditions in the light of tumuli that had been brought out in the city – some of which have been robbed – and foundlings by reexamining history of Kayseri City in the light of tumulus foundlings. Furthermore, it is to determine which of the artifacts that were found inside and outside of the chamber as gifts to the dead were local productions and which of them were imported by carrying out the necessary research. As a result of the study, it was found that, even if it had changed architecturally, tumulus type burial chamber tradition continued in Kayseri at Roman Period, and burial chamber gifts were of the traditional burial chamber gifts of Roman Period. Furthermore, burial chamber founding’ have revealed the commercial relations of Kayseri which is located at a passage point in the middle of Anatolia with oversee countries. Since the research done in Kayseri was limited, the issue of whether there was local production was not conclusive.
