Özet
Nasreddin Hodja is a character in the anecdotes known not only by the Western and the Eastern Turks but also by the whole world. By the Western Turks (Azerbayjan, Turkey, The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, Balkans) he is known as a person from Eskişehir (Sivrihisar, Hortu/Nasreddin Hoca) and Konya (Akşehir) and by the Eastern Turks he is known as a person from Buhara (Şirini). While in Western sources, there are some limited information about his mother, father, teachers and level of educa-tion, we do not have any information in Eastern sources. In our opinion, Nasreddin Hodja known as the son of Saksi{dotless}ci{dotless} Şarmamat is a mythological character. In our article, the way the anecdotes of Nasreddin Hodja fol-lowed during the migration from west to east will be reviewed in terms of various aspects. Moreover, Nasreddin Hodja from Şirini village will be explained in comparison with similar types found in Turkish Culture.
