Objective: It was aimed to evaluate whether sex hormones had an effect on hand preference, hand skill and hand grip. Methods: On 52 volunteered university students (40 females, 12 males) hand preference was assessed by Edinburgh Handedness Questionnaire and reported as Geschwind scores (GS). Hand skill was evaluated by peg moving test for both hands separately and difference between them was calculated. Hand grip was determined by a hand dynamometer. Results: In the females testosterone was related to GS (r-0.48), right (r0.72) and left (r0.58) hand grip, estradiol was related to right (r-0.42) and .left (r-0.46) hand grip. Only in strong right handed males, estradiol was related to right hand (r-0.99) and left hand (r-0.85) peg moving time. There was a relation (r-0.40) between testosterone and right hand grip in strong right handed females. Conclusion: This findings show that in females as testosterone increase right handedness decrease, right and left hand grip increase; as estradiol increase right and left hand grip decrease; in strong right handed males as estradiol increase both hand skills increase.
