Özet

Fecal incontinence (FC) is the inability to voluntarily maintain stool and gas control, and it affects all women and men in their life span. Anamnesis of the patients, physical examination, endoscopic evaluation and assessment of anorectal physiology are all required to detect fecal incontinence. Based on etiology and severity of the condition, surgical and medical therapy can be modified. FC is multifactorial and many therapeutic procedures are still used to cope with it. Surgeon has not only capable to perform surgical procedures for FC, but also he/she must be familiar with the various medical management modalities. Biofeedback therapy is being used increasingly in the treatment of FC. Stimulated myoplasty may be a favourable procedure when FC begins to affect the quality of life of the patients.
