| dc.description.abstract | 1950'lerdeki popülerleşmesinden itibaren bilim kurgu türü, hikayelerinde karakterler yerine teknoloji ve bilim kısımlarına yoğunlaşmıştır. Hikayelerinin albenisi dahiyane fikirler ve çağın teknolojik imkanlarının iyi araştırılmasıyla olası bir geleceğin inşa edilmesi olmuştur. Bu devrimsel fikirlerle inşa edilen dünyalar bugün dahi bilim kurguyu bilim kurgu yapan unsur olmuşlardır. Siberpunk, bilim kurgunun bir alt türüdür ve birçok özelliğini ve fikrini ondan alır ancak bilim kurgudan farklı olarak manzarayı kasvetli bir hale getirir ve distopik özellikler ekler. Mega şirket binalarının neon ışıkları altındaki yağmurlu geceler çok spesifik bir estetiği olan bir resim çizer. Postsiberpunk ise hem bir alt türün alt türü olarak hem de adından da anlaşılacağı üzere, siberpunk türüne bir tepki olarak doğmuştur ve siberpunk dünyaların getirdiği acıyı, parlak bir gelecekle rahatlatma görevi üstlenir. Bu gelecekte insanlığın uç kapitalizm prangaları olmadan daha özgür bir şekilde kendi kaderini belirleyeceği umulur. Posthümanizm ise insan merkezli dünya görüşünün bir çöküşü ve insanın teknolojiyle olan iç içe geçmiş ilişkisini inceleyen teoriler bütünüdür. Bu çalışma siberpunk ve postsiberpunk romanları olan Neuromancer ve Rainbows End hikayelerini posthümanizm bağlamında incelemeyi ve iki eserin posthümanizmi kendi içlerinde nasıl temsil ettiklerini göstermeyi amaçlar. William Gibson'ın Neuromancer eseri posthümanist elementlerin pek çoğunu içerirken, Vernor Vinge'in eseri Rainbows End posthümanist elementler konusunda daha zayıftır. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | Since its popularization in 1950s, science fiction has focused on the technology and the science aspect of its stories instead of characters. The main attraction point was the construction of a possible future through genius ideas and well researched scientific capabilities of the contemporary society. The worlds that were built with these revolutionary ideas shaped what science fiction is even to this day. Cyberpunk is a subgenre of science fiction and it takes many of its tropes and ideas from it, however it changes the scenery to a more bleak one and dystopic elements are introduced. The melancholic rainy nights under the neon lights of the mega corporate buildings, paint a very specific aesthetic picture. Postcyberpunk, being a subgenre of a subgenre and true to its name, is a reaction to cyberpunk and tries to relieve the pain of the cyberpunk worlds with a bright future, where hopefully humanity is freer to choose its destiny without the shackles of extreme capitalism. Posthumanism is essentially the fall of the anthropocentric worldview and it is the whole body of theories that explain the intrinsic relationship between humanity and technology. This study aims to analyze the cyberpunk and postcyberpunk novels namely Neuromancer and Rainbows End, in the posthumanist context and show how the two novels represent posthumanism, individually. While William Gibson's Neuromancer touches upon various elements of posthumanism, Vernor Vinge's Rainbows End is lighter on posthumanist elements. | en_US |
