Özet
Bulaşıcı hastalıklar, etkisi ve sonuçları bakımından salgına dönüştükleri dönemlerde insanlık tarihi için derin izler bırakmıştır. Bu hastalıklardan biri de şüphesiz veba olmuştur. Bu hastalığının tarih sahnesindeki serüveni eski dönemlere kadar dayanmaktadır. Milattan önce ve sonra olmak üzere veba hastalığından bahsedilmekte olup, dünya coğrafyasında Justinyen vebası, Kara veba ve Bombay vebası olmak üzere üç büyük veba salgını yaşanmıştır. Bu salgınlar insanları yalnızca fiziksel anlamda tahribata uğratmakla kalmamış, sosyolojik ve psikolojik anlamda derin izlerin oluşmasına zemin hazırlamıştır. Bu sebeple, söz konusu çalışmada vebanın tarihsel ve sosyolojik analizi yapılması hedeflenmiştir. Böylece bir taraftan, bahse konu veba salgını hakkında tarihsel süreç ayrıntılarıyla incelenecekken, diğer taraftan bu süreçler üzerinden vebanın demografik, sosyal, kültürel, dini, ekonomik ve toplumsal yaşamda meydana getirdiği değişim ve dönüşümler sosyoloji perspektifiyle sistematik olarak ortaya koyulacaktır. Bu hassasiyetle ulusal ve uluslararası anlamda veba konusunda öne çıkan kitaplar, makaleler, dergiler ve benzeri kaynaklar incelenerek birincil kaynaklar üzerinden literatür taraması yapılmıştır. Bu çalışma, tarihsel süreç yanında sosyoloji perspektifiyle veba salgınının toplumsal görünümünü incelemesi bakımından önem taşımaktadır.
Infectious diseases have left deep traces for the history of humanity when they turned into epidemics in terms of their effects and results. One of these diseases was undoubtedly the plague. The adventure of this disease on the stage of history dates back to ancient times. The plague disease is mentioned before and after Christ, and there were three major plague epidemics in the world geography, namely the Justinian plague, the Black plague, and the Bombay plague. These epidemics not only damaged people physically but also laid the groundwork for the formation of deep traces in sociological and psychological terms. For this reason, it is aimed to make a historical and sociological analysis of the plague in this study. Thus, on the one hand, the historical process of the plague epidemic in question will be examined in detail, on the other hand, the changes and transformations caused by the plague in demographic, social, cultural, religious, economic, and social life through these processes will be systematically revealed from the perspective of sociology. With this sensitivity, a literature review was made on primary sources by examining the prominent books, articles, journals, and similar sources on plague in the national and international sense. This study is important in terms of examining the social appearance of the plague epidemic from a sociological perspective as well as the historical process.
