Özet
The dissertation's topic is " the human need of prophecy " and it contains an introduction and two main chapters. Althogh the title is general, the whole work emphasizes Islamic point of view. The introduction chapter is dealing with the definiti ons of Prophecy (Nubuwwa) and major proofs for it. The first chapter is mainly about the importance and advantages of having prophets (Na- bi-Rasül), and different opinions of Islamic theological schools on how to understand prophecy. Also, philosophical critisisms against prophecy are given. The other and the last chpter which is the most related to the subject is devoted to the individual and social depen dence to prophecy and Prophets, in this chapter the relations betwe en relation and science are also studied, and the problems caused by irreligiaus attitudes sre relatively discus'sed. God Alminghty informend His creatures of His orders and prohibi tions which are necessary to show them the right path through His prophets. The prophets are mediators and mesngers between God and His creatures. Prophethood is the gift of God. He bestows it upon whom He wishes and it cannot be achieved by striving and struggling. In the whole context, while the his torical reality of prophecy is mentioned, as the main argument the insufficiency of human reason for happiness and continuity of the society is rather strongly stressed. Attention is driven to the fact that prophets practice moral values, in their life, which are necessary for this life. Besides, they bring in - formation some of which are impossiple to know by scientifc means. The final word, pointed at the end, is that the need of prophecy for human beings is beyond discussion,
