Özet
Trabzon’un ilçeleri arasında önemli bir yeri olan Of, Cumhuriyetle birlikte idari,
sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik yönlerden birçok gelişmeye ve değişime sahne olmuştur.
Sosyal yönden; imar planları, yeni yollar, altyapı çalışmaları gibi düzenlemelerin
yapıldığı ilçede, toplumsal bir sorun olarak başta asayiş olmak üzere problemler
yaşanmıştır. İki defa idari taksimatta yapılan değişikliklerle alanı daraltılan Of’ta,
kültürel olarak gelişme sağlanmış bu çerçevede eğitim kurumları başta olmak üzere
halk eğitimi çalışmaları yapılmış ve bir kütüphane kurulmuştur. İlçenin ekonomisi
tarıma dayalı olup, bilhassa çay tarımının ilçede desteklenmesi ile birlikte etkileri
görülmüştür. Ziraat dışında hayvancılık ve sahil kesimlerinde kıyı balıkçılığı önemli
yer tutmaktadır. Ayrıca sosyal, kültürel ve ekonomik yapıyı desteklemek amaçlı ilçede
dernekler açılmıştır. Of ilçesinin sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel yapısını 1923-2010
arasında genel hatları ile incelemeyi amaçlayan çalışma, Of Belediye Arşivi, TÜİK
kayıtları, basın başta olmak üzere telif ve tetkik eserlerden yararlanılarak
hazırlanmıştır.
Of, which has an important place among the districts of Trabzon, has witnessed many developments and changes administratively, socially, culturally, economically and politically with the Republic. In the district, where zoning plans, new roads, and infrastructure works were made, there were problems, especially security problems, as a social problem. In Of, whose area was narrowed by the changes made in the administrative division twice, cultural development was achieved, and within this framework, public education studies were carried out, especially in educational institutions, and a library was established. The economy of the district is based on agriculture, and its effects have been seen especially with the support of tea agriculture in the district. As well as agriculture, animal husbandry and coastal fishing have an important place in the coastal areas. In addition, associations were opened in the district to support the social, cultural and economic structure. The study, which aims to examine the social, economic and cultural structure of the district of Of between the years of 1923 and 2010 in general terms, was prepared by making use of copyrights and examinations, especially the Of Municipality Archive, TUIK records, and the press.
