Özet
Türk sözcüğünün tek heceli bir sözden mi yoksa iki heceli bir sözden mi geldiği konusunda kesin bir sonuca varılamamakla birlikte nereden geldiği konusundaki bilgilerimiz tarihî belgelere dayanmaktadır. Türkiye sözcüğünün de ilk zamanlar Türklerin yaşadığı coğrafyayı, daha sonraları ise özellikle Anadolu’yu ifade ettiği belgelerden anlaşılmaktadır. Bazı milletlerin adları gibi Türk adı da ırk anlamının dışında başka anlamlarda kullanılmıştır. Muhtelif metinlerden ve Mevlâna’nın eserlerinden anlaşıldığı üzere Türk sözcüğünün daha çok güçlü, güzel ve göçebe anlamlarında kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Bu anlamlar dışında Mevlâna, aşk ve anlamı da Türk sözcüğüyle ifade etmiştir. Mevlâna’nın Türk sözcüğünü söz konusu anlamlarda kullanmasında Türklerin bir ırk olarak maddi ve manevi güzel hasletlerinin etkisi olmuştur.
It could not be reached a definite conclusion whether the word of Turk comes from a singular or plural form, but we have historical documents about where it came from. Looking through these document’s windows also it is understood that the word of Turkey had been used to mean a vast district in early times where the Turks lived on it; afterwards it has been used especially for Anatolia. As the nouns of several nations the noun of Turk had been used in a few senses together with the sense of nation. Accordin to several documents and according to Mawl?n? the word of Turk is used as the meanings of might, beautiful and nomad. Mawl?n? used these senses in several dimensions; he also used the Turk instead of beloved, love and meaning. It is understood that the boastful material and the moral characters of Turks had been effective on Mawl?n? to use the Turk with these senses.
