Öğe Analysis of Basketball Trainers Views About Coronavirus-19 Phobia(Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2022 Nisan) Yalçın, Yahya Gökhan; Demirel, Havva; Altın, MehmetQuantitative research models were used in the study, which aimed to to assess the phobia related to the coronavirus-19 of basketball coaches working in Turkey Basketball Federation (TBF) and registered to Turkey's Basketball Coaches Association (TÜBAD). 21 women, and 216 men, 237 active basketball coaches in total, who are TÜBAD members at various levels by the Turkish Leagues, participated to the study. While the personal information form developed by the researchers was used to obtain demographic information in the study. The homogeneity and variances of the data were tested, Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test was applied, and it was determined that the data showed normal distribution. Independent Samples t Test was used in pair matches and One Way Anova test was used in multiple comparisons. Results were evaluated at 95% confidence interval and p <0.05 level. Cronbach's Alpha value for the overall scale was determined as .882. According to the results obtained from the findings of the study, no difference was observed in coranavirus 19 phobia values in terms of gender and coaching levels, while statistically significant differences were found in terms of age variables and the status of basketball trainers to practice a different profession besides coaching (p <0.05). It was observed that the differences were not observed in both variables in Somatic, Social, Economic and General Dimensions, but they differed in psychological dimensions and the differences were in favor of lower age groups depending on the age factor. As a result, coronavirus-19 phobia of basketball coaches serving in the Turkey Basketball Federation (TBF) and registered Basketball coach of Turkey's Basketball Coaches Association (TÜBAD) is not related to gender and rank, but young coaches have been determined that most affected group psychologically. Likewise, it was concluded that coaches who did a different profession other than coaching were also adversely affected by the situation and this negative situation might have occurred with the concern of working in multiple groups.Öğe Relationship Between Physical Activity Levels and Body Compositions of University Students(Selçuk Üniversitesi, 2019 Nisan) Arıkan, Şükran; Revan, SerkanThe aim of this study is to determine the relationship between physical activity levels and body composition of university students. A total of 155 students (56 women, 99 men) attending Selcuk University Faculty of Sports Sciences voluntarily participated in the research. Moreover, it was determined that there were statistically significant decreases in the HCT, MCV, MCH, MPV and PCT values of the female taekwondo athletes, and in the MCV, MPV and PCT values of the male taekwondo athletes. Conclusions: As a conclusion, we can state that the 8-week exercises applied during the preparation period affected the hematological parameters of the male and female taekwondo athletes to an extent, however, this effect was limited and it did not cause an important change.Öğe The effect of 30-m repeated sprint exercise on muscle damage indicators, serum insulin-like growth factor-I and cortisol(WALTER DE GRUYTER GMBH, 2019) Eryılmaz, Selcen Korkmaz.; Aslankeser, Zübeyde.; Özdemir, Çigdem.; Özgünen, Kerem.; Kurdak, Sadi.Study aim: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of a repeated sprint exercise protocol on muscle damage indicators. serum IGF-I and cortisol levels. Material and methods: Nine trained male subjects (age 23.3 +/- 3.6 years) completed a repeated sprint protocol consisting of two sets of 10 x 30-in maximal sprints with 30 s of active recovery between sprints and 5 min of passive recovery between sets. The isometric strength and flexibility were measured before, immediately after and 24 hours after exercise. 30-m maximal sprint time was measured before and 24 hours after exercise. Blood samples were taken before, immediately after and 24 hours after exercise. Results: Isometric strength and flexibility were significantly decreased after exercise and 24 hours after exercise (p < 0.05). 30-in sprint time was significantly increased 24 hours after exercise (p < 0.05). A significant increase in serum lactate dehydrogenase, IGF-I and cortisol were found after exercise (p < 0.05). Serum creatine kinase increased significantly immediately after and 24 hours after exercise compared to pre-exercise values (p < 0.05). Conclusion: Our data show that due to increased scrum IGF-I level, repeated sprint exercise may have anabolic effects as well as traumatic effects on the muscles.Öğe Effects of training load changes on physical performance and exercise-induced muscle damage(SOC BRASILEIRA MED ESPORTE, 2019) Eryılmaz, Selcen Korkmaz.; Aslankeser, Zübeyde.; Özdemir, Çiğdem.; Özgünen, Kerem.; Kurdak, Sadi.Introduction: There is no previous study examining muscle damage responses from training load changes in individuals trained exclusively with repeated sprint exercise. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of training load changes on physical performance and exercise-induced muscle damage in male college athletes who were trained using a 30m repeated sprint protocol. Methods: Twelve participants completed the 6-week training period (three sessions/week), which consisted of progressively increasing intensity training in the first 5 weeks. On the first day of the training period, all sprints were performed at 70-80% of maximum effort. In the first session of the 5th week (Maximal intensity training; MIT), all sprints (10x30m sprints) were performed at maximal speed. The sets (10 sprints at maximal speed in each set) were repeated until exhaustion (Exhaustive training; ET) in the first training session of the 6th week, followed by two sessions of the normal training. Isometric strength, 30m sprint performance, flexibility, serum creatine kinase (CK) and cortisol were measured periodically during the examination period. Results: Isometric strength, 30m sprint performance, and flexibility were significantly decreased following the ET, and did not recover during the following 9-day period, which consisted of two training sessions and 6 days of recovery. Cortisol was significantly elevated immediately after the ET but was not changed after training on first day and during MIT. CK was significantly elevated after training every week, but the increase at 24 hours after ET was significantly higher than after the first day and MIT. Conclusions: Dramatically increasing the volume of maximal intensity repeated sprint exercise results in greater relative muscle damage even in trained individuals, which will significantly limit their performance. Further training sessions, even at normal intensity and volume with insufficient time for muscle recovery, may prolong the duration of fatigue.Öğe A study of humor differences in university students doing and not doing sport(INT JOURNAL APPLIED EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY, 2019) Altın, Mehmet; Demir, HayriThis paper aimed to analyze humor style differences in the university students doing sport and not doing sport. The research group consisted of total 127 university students including 52 females, 75 males having education at the various departments of Sport Sciences Faculty. When using the personal information form in obtaining socio-demographical information, the Humor Styles Scale developed by Martin et al. [1] and adapted into Turkish by Yerlikaya [2] was used for determining humor style differences. The scale of 32 items involved four sub-dimensions including participating (KM), self-developing (KGM), aggressive (SM) and self-desructive (KYM) humor. While any statistical differences were not observed in humor styles based on the students' age and income level factors, statistical differences were observed based on the sport and gender factors (p<0.05). The male students' participating, self-desructive and total humor points were statistically higher than the females (p<0.05); they adapted self-humiliating humor style more although they had more humorous approaches about events. In the aggressive humor dimension, the female students had statistically higher points than the male students (p<0.05); this indicated that they used humor as an instrument of aggression. In general, the male students doing sport preferred more aggressive humor styles rather than the students not doing sport, this was a remarkable result since this was incompatible with feelings such as peace, friendship, brotherhood included in the nature of sport. This paper was considered to be important to keep light on different scopes and dimensions about sport and humor approach styles.Öğe Elit tekvandocuların sıkletlerine göre somatotiplerinin karşılaştırılması(2018) Revan, Serkan; Arıkan, Şükran; Balcı, Şükrü Serdar; Şahin, Metin; Canbaz, MuammerAmaç: Elit tekvandocuların sıkletlerine göre somatotiplerinin karşılaştırılmasıdır. Study sample included parents of 40 autistic children (n20 experimental and n20 control) aged 10-14 years from Malatya Private Sevgi Yolu Rehabilitation Center. Three days a week for 16 weeks, the experimental group did the activities of one-hour walk, jogging, double-leg jump, and walking along a balancing beam. Individuals in the control group continued their daily routine without participating in any activity during this period. Anger levels of autistic individuals were identified using the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Inventory (TAAEI) developed by Spielberger et al. (1983) and adapted to Turkish by Özer (1994). The inventory was completed by the parents of the individuals both in the experimental and control groups following the 16-week activity program. The collected data was analyzed at the significance level of 0.05 (i.e. a confidence level of 95%) in SPSS version 22.0. Statistical analysis indicated significant differences between trait anger, controlled anger, expressed anger and suppressed anger scores (p0.05). The results showed that anger levels of the autistic individuals participating in the physical activity program were lower and the physical activity in autistic individuals helped anger control. It is recommended that autistic individuals participate in low intensity activities for at least 3 days a week. By teaching autistic individuals how to keep their anger under control, interpersonal and family conflicts, feelings of guilt, low self-esteem and some behavioral (e.g. shyness, crying, unhappiness, anorexia, bulimia) and physiological problems (e.g. sweating, headache, difficulty in breathing) can be avoided.Öğe Sports injuries in 15-17 year-old male athlete students participating on school teams(2018) Ozdemir, Mehmet; Tanır, Halil; Ilkım, Mehmet; Şeker, TarıkThe purpose of this study is to determine the frequency of the sports injuries in 15-17-year-old male athlete students participating on school teams (volleyball, basketball, football and handball) and their level of knowledge about these injuries. The sample of the research consists of 233 athlete students (n89 footballers, n37 volleyball players, n46 basketball players and n61 handball players) in 15–17 age group participating on school teams of thirteen different high schools in Kütahya. The questionnaire form developed was used to determine the injuries in athlete students that participated in the study. The data was analysed using SPSS version 22.0. According to the statistical analysis, it was found that the athlete students who got injured most were of footballers with %45.2 (n47) and those who got injured least were volleyball players with %10.6 (n11). It was seen that injuries occurred mostly during competitions (n82). The majority of the athlete students reported that they had very little (n117) and average (n107) information on sports injuries. The results showed that injuries occurred more in football and handball players and mostly during competitions.
