dc.description.abstractAmaç: Bruksizm tedavisinde kullanılan oklüzal splintler hastaların ağız bakımını ve tükürüğün yıkama etkisini değiştirebilmektedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, oklüzal splintlerin diş ve çevre gingival dokulara etkisini incelemektir. Gereç ve Yöntemler: Çalışma bruksizm şikâyeti olan 50 hasta üzerinde yapılmıştır. 43 hasta takip randevularına gelmiştir. Hastanın plak kullanımına başlamadan hemen önce, plak kullanımına başladıktan sonra ise 1. ve 3. aylarda plak indeksi, gingival indeksi ve sondalamada kanama indeksi olmak üzere periodontal indeksleri kaydedilmiştir. Veriler IBM SPSS V23 programı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: Çalışma sonuçlarına göre plak kullanımı sonrası plak indeksinde azalma olduğu görülmüştür (p<0,001). Gingival indeks ve sondalamada kanama indeksinde anlamlı bir farklılık görülmemiştir (p>0,05). Çalışma sonuçları farklı dişlere göre değerlendirildiğinde ise sadece maksiller sağ birinci molar dişin plak indeksinde bir azalma görülmüştür(p<0,001). Diğer dişlerde plak, gingival ve sondalamada kanama indekslerinde anlamlı fark bulunamamıştır(p>0,05). Sonuç: Oklüzal splint kullanımı, oral hijyen eğitimi, klinik takipler hastanın ağız bakımında olumlu alışkanlıklar kazandırarak ağız hijyenini olumlu yönde etkileyebileceği düşünülmektedir.en_US
dc.description.abstractBackground: Occlusal splints, especially used in the treatment of bruxism, can change the oral hygiene of patients and the clearance effect of saliva. The aim of our study is to examine the effects of these changes on teeth and surrounding gingival tissues. Methods: The study was conducted on 50 patients with bruxism. 43 patients came to follow-up appointments. Periodontal records were made just before the patient started using the occlusal splints and at the 1st and 3rd months after the patient started using the occlusal splints. Plaque index, gingival index and bleeding on probing were evaluated in the study. The data were analyzed with the IBM SPSS V23 program. Results: According to the results of the study, it was observed that there was a decrease in the plaque index after the use of occlusal splints. There was no significant difference in gingival index and bleeding on probing. (p<0.05) When the study results were evaluated according to different teeth, a decrease was observed in the plaque index of only the maxillary right first molar tooth. No significant difference was found in plaque, gingival and bleeding on probing in other teeth. Conclusion: The use of occlusal splints, oral hygiene motivation and clinical follow-ups have positively affected the oral hygiene of the patient by gaining positive habits in oral care.en_US
