Öğrencilerinyaşı, cinsiyeti, ailede sağlık çalışanı bulunması vesağlığı algılama durumları ile sağlık okuryazarlığıarasında anlamlı bir fark olmadığı ancak dördüncüsınıfta okuyan ve tedavi gördüğü hastalığıbulunanların sağlık okuryazarlığı düzeyinin anlamlıolarak yüksek olduğu saptandı (p0.05).Sonuç: Çalışmaya katılan üniversite öğrencileri ilaçdozlarının zamanını, hipotansiyon belirtilerini vehastane randevusu almayı iyi bilmekte ancakhipertansiyon belirtilerini ve hastalıkları ile ilgilişikayetlerde başvurulacak polikliniği iyibilmemektedir. Numbers, percentages, mean, standard deviation, t test andanalysis of variance were used for the analysis of thedata. Findings: The mean age of the students participatedin the study was 20.71±1.69. 81.2 % of theparticipants had the knowledge of the symptoms ofhypotension. It was seen that there was nosignificant relationship between the level of healthliteracy and the students' age, gender, perceivedhealth status and presence of health worker amongtheir family members. However, the level of healthliteracy was significantly higher among the seniorstudents (in fourth grade) and those receivingtreatment for their diseases (p<0.05).Conclusion: The university students participated inthe study had good knowledge of staying onschedule with medications, the symptoms ofhypotension and getting an appointment at hospital, however, they didn't know enough about the signsof hypertension and proper outpatient clinic to becontacted for their complaints regarding theillnesses. Therefore, it is recommended that allmembers of the society, particularly universitystudents should be trained to improve the levels ofhealth literacy.
