dc.description.abstract | This study was carried out in order to investigate the effect of table tennis exercise on the attention levels of children. 40 children doing table tennis exercise (experimental group) together with 40 children not doing any exercise program (control group) between 9 and 13 years old were participated in the research. Both the experimental and the control group were applied Bourdon attention test before and after 8-week procedure. The SPSS statistical program (version 16.0) was used for data analysis. Findings were summarized with mean and standard deviation. One- Sample Kolmogorov-Smirnov was used to determine whether the data has normal distribution, independent-samples t-test was used to determine significant differences among independent variables while Paired Sample test was used to determine the significant differences among the dependent variables. The research indicates a statistical difference (P<0.05) between the experimental and the control group in terms of post-test. In the comparison of pre-test and post-test results of the experimental group, there is a significant difference between pre-test and post-test results (P<0.05). In those comparisons, it was found that the post-test results are higher than pre-test results. When the pre-test results of women were compared with the experimental and the control group, it was found that there is no statistically significant difference between the pre-test results of the experimental and the control group (P>0.05). To conclude, in the present study conducted to examine the attention level of children doing table tennis exercises, it was found that table tennis exercises applied to the experimental group led to significant difference in the attention level of children. No significant difference was realized in the attention level of the control group. As a result, we can say that table tennis exercises can affect the attention characteristics of children positively who are between 11 and 13 years old. | en_US |
