This article intends to be a first incentive for the development of a German-language master’s degree program which qualifies for education or counseling in bilingual day-care centers. It was developed in the context of a project that focuses on the elaboration of a bachelor curriculum for bilingual early childhood education and training and also includes measures for the training of educators for German-Turkish day-care centers. The main objective of the project is to promote the bilingual education and training of children of Turkish origin in Germany. The questions and problems discussed in the model project so far have suggested the following considerations: Would it not make sense to develop a transnational master's degree program beyond the planned project of a bachelor's degree program for early childhood education and training, and then make this study program also fruitful for Turkish children in bilingual day-care centers in Turkey? The planned master's degree program would not only serve the “market” in Germany. Also in Turkey the demand for bilingual education is growing steadily and has been preferred to monolingual education for quite some time. Numerous kindergartens and private pre-schools compete strongly through their bilingual offers of various language combinations. The planned master's degree program would also meet with interest among the graduates of German Studies and Didactics of German as well as graduates of Early Childhood Education and open them up new career paths.
