Özet

Traditional higher education institutions played a role as a tool in the educating of power elites and constructing a higher state culture in the Otoman and Choson States. While higher education was organized on the basis of Confucian belief system in Choson State, in the Otoman State it took shape in the Islamic framework. In this study, Enderun and Salm-1 Seman Madrasas and followingly Dar-ul Funun were compared to the classical higher education institute, Sunggyungwan in the Choson Dynasty which took a crucial place in Korean history. It was analyzed that how those traditional higher education institutes played a role in the education of the power elites and building a higher state culture.
