Özet
Milli hâkimiyet esasına dayanan yeni bit Türk devleti kurmak gibi bir gayeyle Samsun'a çıkmış olan Mustafa Kemal Paşanın öncelikle ele aldığı konu, vatan bütünlüğünü ve milli istiklâlini kaybetme noktasına gelmiş olan Türk Milletini karşı karşıya kaldığı tehlikenin büyüklüğü konusunda uyarmak, dağınık, çekingen ve bölgesel kurtuluş çabalarını topyekün bir Milli Mücadele hareketine yöneltmek olmuştu. Bunun için, Kamuoyu oluşturmak istemişti. Basının kamuoyu oluşturmadaki etkisini çok iyi bilen Mustafa kemal Paşa, gerek İstanbul ve gerekse Anadolu basımyla yakından ilgilenmiş, bilhassa İstanbul basınını Milli Mücadeleye destek vermesini sağlamaya çalışmıştı. Sivas Kongresini takıp eden günlerde İstanbul basınıyla yoğun bir temasa giren Mustafa Kemal Paşa, bazı Gazetelerin başyazar ve muhabirleri ile telgrafyazışmaları yapmış, demeçler vermiştir. Yine bazı Gazetelerin Sivas'a ve Amasya ya gönderdiği muhabirleriyle "mülâkatlar" yaparak İstanbul basınının ve kamuoyunun Milli Mücadele hakkında bilgi sahibi olmasını sağlamıştır.
Mustafa K. Pasha lefi for Samsun with the intention of establishing a sovereign nation state. First of all he wanted to awaken the public to prevent the partition of the country and regain the national sov-ereignity that was in danger of slipping away. His aim was to unift the uncoordinated national resistence groups and establish a unified entity. To achieve this goal he mobilised the public opinion of the people of Anatolia. He understood the influence of the media very well, so he established a close relationship with Istanbul and Anatolian's media groups. He, especially wanted their full sup-port for his efforts. Following the Sivas Congress, Kemal Pasha contacted the Istanbul's media by telegraph and gave interviews to selected editors and reporters. Consequently, some newspapers sent their reporters to Sivas and Amasya where they met Kemal Pasha and he gave them information about the Congress and thus he, through the media, enlightened the public about national struggle.
