dc.description.abstract | A new Schiff base derivative based benzothiazole-bisphenol A (BBA) was synthesized and full characterized. The binding properties of BBA were studied with different anions. BBA showed selective chromogenic as well as fluorescent sensor property toward F- by a 40-fold increase in the emission intensity upon binding with F-. However, other anions such as Cl-, Br-, I-, NO3-, ClO4-, AcO-, HSO4-, and H2PO4- could not cause any color change. Thus, BBA can be used as colorimetric and fluorometric sensor for the determination of fluoride ion. Test strips based on BBA were produced, which could act as a convenient and efficient F- test kit. An INHIBIT logic gate was also proposed using the output obtained from the fluorescence and UV-vis studies. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved. | en_US |
