Özet
Sofokles’in MÖ 411 yılında yazdığı Antigone tragedyasında devlet yasaları ile Tanrıların kurallarının çatışması ve bunun sonucunda bireysel özgürlüge inanan Antigone’nin otoriteye baş kaldırışı ele alınır. Düşüncesi ve eylemi ile çağdaş insanı etkileyen bir kişiliğe sahip olan Antigone günümüzde birçok eserin de kahramanıdır. Antigone dramını eserine konu edinen yirminci yüzyıl yazarlarından biri de Kemal Demirel’dir. Demirel, insanca yaşamak için günümüzün materyalist dünyasında adaletin ve eşitliğin sağlanması gerektiğini savunurken Antigone’nin kişiliğinde evrensel bir gerçeğe ışık tutar. Bu çalışmada, Antigone dramının Sofokles ve Demirel’in oyunlarında nasıl işlendiği, Demirel’in Antigone’nin kişiliğinde günümüzün toplumsal bir sorununu nasıl ele aldığı üzerinde durulmuştur.
Sophocles’s play Antigone, written in 411 BC, deals with the tragedy of Antigone who defends individual freedom. In the play the rules of government and gods are in conflict and as a result Antigone revolts against the authority. Her thoughts and behoviour still influence contemporary world. Therefore she is used as a heroine in many works. Kemal Demirel’s play focuses on Antigone’s tragedy. He uses this character in order to deal with the injustice of materialistic world. This paper aims at studying the way Sophocles and Demirel study the tragedy of Antigone and how Demirel achieves to reveal the social problems of today in the character of Antigone are studied.
