Özet
Water is the most vital necessity for mankind. Groundwater constitutes a major portion of the earth water circulatory system, known as hydrologic cycle. It occurs in permeable geologic formations as aquifer. The early stages of land or aquifer development are an opportune time to establish a combined water-level and water-quality monitoring network that can define baseline conditions, and track important changes with time in the quantity and quality of the resource. In recent years, much progress has been made -in the application of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to ground water [1-4]. The advent of GIS has added new vistas in the field of ground water resources mapping and management. It helps integrating GIS supported data and ancillary data to have more precise and correct information about various factors involved in ground water resource management. Examples are provided for the region of Konya, where rapid changes in land development have a potential to affect ground-water resources. In this study, the regional ground water information system (RGWIS) and 3.5D temporal models were used to illustrate the regional distribution of some attributes of ground water in Konya, to analyze them and to form a decision support platform for decision makers, natural resource managers, and even real users. Under this concept, delineated 3.5D temporal models were established to show yearly and seasonal changes in the ground water level, conductivity, turbidity, ammonia and nitrate distributions in the region. © by PSP Volume 14 - No 12b. 2005.
