Özet
Aluminum alloy 2024-T4 shot peening was tested for surface treatment effects on fatigue strength. The specimens were machined from rod stock on a lathe and held at 415°C for three hours then solid solution treated at 500°C for 30 minutes. The specimens were rotation bending fatigued and then shot peened with different diameters of shot and at different intensities. Surface roughness increased with shot peening. Peening with glass after peening with steel improved the surface quality. Increasing peening intensity increases surface roughness. 0.28 mm shot diameter at 50 psi, 16-18A +200% peening condition was found as the optimum.
