Özet
Kitap; 19. ve 20. yüzyıllarda yaşamış olan batılılaşma ve aklı ön plana alan olguculuk gibi akımların etkisine karşı toplumu bilinçlendirmeyi amaç edinen aydınlarla birlikte batılılaşmaya sempati besleyen aydınların anlatıldığı derleme niteliğinde bir çalışma olarak değerlendirilebilir. Kitapta bu yüzyıllarda dünyada yaşanan değişimler karşısında içinde yaşanılan toplumda görülen kabz durumu ile aydınların verdiği mücadele anlatılmış ve aydınlar için edebiyat varoluş olarak ifade edilmiştir. Eserde edebiyatın hayatı anlamlandırmak, hayatın muhasebesini yapmak ve değişimler karşısında uygun tavrı koymak gibi işlevleri üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu dönemde sanat ve edebiyatın, toplumun sahip olduğu değerleri korumayı kendisine vazife edindiği görülmektedir.
Book; It can be considered as a compilation of the intellectuals who lived in the 19th and 20th centuries and aimed to raise public awareness against the influence of movements such as westernization and positivism, which prioritizes reason, as well as intellectuals who sympathize with westernization. In the book, the struggle of the intellectuals with the constipation seen in the society in the face of the changes experienced in the world in these centuries is explained and literature is expressed as existence for the intellectuals. The work focuses on the functions of literature such as giving meaning to life, accounting for life, and taking the appropriate attitude towards changes. In this period, it seems that art and literature took it upon themselves to protect the values of the society.
